The Invi bracelet can be activated to emit a repelling odor. It contains a capsule that can be broken open once in an emergency. To release the bracelet from "safe mode," press the safety button. Place two fingers on the back of the clasp and bend your wrist slightly inward. The capsule holder should be able to bend over the curve of your wrist. Then break open the capsule by gradually applying increasing force with your fingers (see also the video above). Once activated, the gaseous odor is noticeable within seconds and can last for up to several hours. The odor is disturbing and repelling. However, reactions vary from person to person. The odor can reach over 100 meters away and can alert others in the area.
The Invi Bracelet is intended for threatening situations in which you feel unsafe and need to protect yourself, when other options such as leaving or calling for help are no longer possible.
The armband was developed for self-defense against, among others:
Move to a safe place. Remove the bracelet from your wrist. Remove contaminated clothing and get fresh air. In case of contact with skin: Rinse with soap and water for at least 15 minutes. Do not throw away the Invi bracelet; store it in an empty water bottle (with the tap turned off) or an airtight plastic bag. This can be used as evidence. Always call emergency services after use to report the gaseous odor. You can also contact Invi via hello@invi.world or +31 (0)26 785 50 92. For waste disposal, please visit your local recycling center.
Normal use ensures you can wear the Invi bracelet for years thanks to its robust design, patented safety release mechanism, and the use of high-quality materials such as 316L surgical steel. You can extend the bracelet's lifespan by handling it with care. The bracelet can react to certain environmental influences. It may oxidize and discolor when exposed to humidity, carbon dioxide, sulfur in the air, or to sweat, perfume, cleaning products, acids, or body lotion. Dirt from normal use can sometimes block the safety release mechanism. Therefore, it is important to press the safety button once a week to check that it opens smoothly.
A cleaning cloth can be used to remove dirt between the internal components. If this doesn't help, silicone spray will work. Spray one drop between the moving parts. Now press the safety button and slide the two parts over each other. Repeat this a few times to ensure even distribution of the silicone spray. For Invi bracelets with a leather strap: avoid direct contact with water and/or cleaning products to preserve the quality of the leather. If the leather shows signs of damage, such as small cuts or other weak spots, we recommend replacing it, as there is a risk of it breaking during activation. Although the bracelet is shock-resistant, avoid dropping it. Store the bracelet in a cool, dry place when not wearing it.
To date, we haven't experienced any problems taking the Invi Bracelet on a plane. Dutch airport security recommends storing the bracelet in an airtight plastic bag, in a shock-resistant location, and only in the checked baggage compartment. Because some airlines may have their own rules, we want to emphasize that taking the Invi Bracelet on a plane is at your own risk.
